Tilly’s Adventurers Book Club (“we,” “our,” “us”) is dedicated to providing a safe, secure, and magical online environment for children and parents. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect personal data in compliance with the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (Children’s Code), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
We operate under the strict principle of Data Minimization—we only ask for the absolute minimum amount of information required to deliver our educational games, songs, and certificate awards.

A. From Parents and Guardians (Adults)
- What We Collect: Email address, parent’s first name, and billing/shipping addresses (only during shop checkout).
- Why We Collect It: To deliver personalized achievement certificates to your inbox, send your 10% loyalty coupons, send book club updates, and fulfill physical book orders.
- Legal Basis (GDPR): Consent (for email newsletters and digital certificate delivery) and Contractual Necessity (to process and ship physical book orders).
B. From Children (Little Explorers)
- What We Collect: First name or nickname (entered at the end of the Interactive Quiz to customize their certificate).
- Why We Collect It: This name is used solely to generate the live, dynamic “Achievement Certificate” image on your screen.
- No Long-Term Storage: The child’s first name is not tied to tracking databases or behavioral marketing profiles.
2. Zero Tracking and Child-Safe Technology
To protect children from invasive web-tracking, Tilly’s Adventurers Book Club maintains a strict child-safe tech stack:
- No Social Logins: We do not offer “Log in with Facebook” or “Log in with Google” to prevent third-party social media giants from tracking child behavior on our site.
- Restricted Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with Google Signals turned OFF and Ad Personalization turned OFF. This ensures no remarketing cookies or behavioral profiles are created for visitors to our site.
- No Targeted Ads: We do not run third-party targeted advertising networks on our site.
3. Data Retention and Security
- How We Secure Data: We use industry-standard SSL encryption across our entire platform to keep communications between your device and our servers completely private.
- How Long We Keep It: Customer billing and shipping data is kept as required for standard tax and business reporting. General membership and email list profiles are retained until you ask us to remove them. You can opt out of Tilly’s mailing list at any time by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email.
4. Your Legal Rights (Parents and Guardians)
You have full control over the information we hold about your family. At any time, you can:
- Request to see the personal data we hold about you or your child.
- Request that we delete or correct any personal data immediately.

Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
